Matwork Pilates

The Pilates mat training strengthens the muscles and makes them at the same time supple; it promotes mobility and has a positive effect on the nervous system, which contributes to mental relaxation. In focus is the healthy strengthening of the deep and the superficial abdomen and

back muscles. All of this leads to a physical and mental positive inner attitude.

Tangible results:

• Reinforcement of the pelvic floor

• Increased spinal health by activating the deep muscles

• Improved posture

• Improved mobility of your shoulder and hip joints

• Strengthening of the muscles in your extremities

• Optimization of movement patterns

• Better body awareness

• Reduction of tension

Reformer Pilates

Developed in the 1920s by Pilates founder Joseph Pilates, it is more relevant today than ever: There are good reasons why the reformer has lost none of its fascination and effectiveness as a universal and variable training equipment. Because his well thought-out combination of flexibly mounted recumbent sledge, individually adjustable spring resistances and versatile pulleys allow an enormous range of exercise elements, Pilates training with this device literally opens up new dimensions, from the mobilizing and stabilizing depth effect on the entire body to the targeted flexibilization and strengthening of individual groups of muscles.

The spectrum of Pilates training with the reformer is exceptionally comprehensive and effective, including strength and coordination, flexibility and balance. The Reformer has also been proven in rehabilitation training, as in cases of muscle injuries or back problems with special exercises for the lumbar spine or the vertebral discs.

Here are some of the key advantages:

  •     Strengthens Muscles: The resistance provided by the springs on the reformer machine helps build and tone muscles, enhancing overall strength.

  •     Improves Flexibility: Reformer Pilates involves a range of motion exercises that contribute to improved flexibility and increased joint mobility.

  •     Enhances Posture: The emphasis on proper body alignment and core engagement in reformer exercises helps develop better posture over time.

  •     Increases Core Stability: Many reformer exercises target the core muscles, promoting a strong and stable core, which is crucial for overall body stability.

  •     Low-Impact Exercise: Reformer Pilates is gentle on the joints, making it suitable for individuals with joint concerns or those looking for a low-impact workout.

  •     Balances the Body: The reformer allows for targeted exercises that address muscle imbalances, helping to create a more symmetrical and balanced physique.

  •     Mind-Body Connection: Like traditional Pilates, reformer workouts emphasize mindfulness, fostering a connection between the mind and body, promoting body awareness and control.

  •     Increases Circulation: The dynamic movements in reformer exercises enhance blood circulation throughout the body, supporting overall cardiovascular health.

  •     Customizable Resistance: The reformer's adjustable springs allow for customization of resistance levels, making it suitable for individuals at various fitness levels.

  •     Variety of Exercises: The reformer offers a versatile range of exercises, ensuring a diverse workout that keeps individuals engaged and challenged.

Remember that the benefits may vary from person to person, and it's always advisable to consult with a fitness professional or healthcare provider before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions.

The classes offered at MOMAX PILATES® on the Reformer differ both according to the performance level of the participants and to the respectively set training priorities. Apart from the numerous

courses for all performance levels depending on the participants of the courses (Beginner = Level 1, Intermediate = Level 2, Advanced = Level 3) in the MOMAX PILATES® programme, there are the Reformer Workout courses (focus on muscle building and muscle strengthening with multiple exercise repetitions for all performance levels); Reformer High Intensity or Cardio (focus on changing intervals of cardio and strength building for the performance level Intermediate), Reformer Athletic (focus on combined strengthening of condition and muscles, with a demanding exercise programme for the performance levels Intermediate and Advanced); Reformer Core (emphasis on strengthening the overall abdominal muscles at all performance levels), Reformer Flow (focus on sculpting the full body with the combination of different exercise sequences in fluid transition and additional weight for the training of arms and legs), Reformer Upper Body Bliss (focus on a workout of front and back, glutes and shoulders for a better posture, avoid injuries and strengthen muscles), Reformer Tone & Stretch (focus on a full body stretch to win flexibility with emphasis on the upper body, hip flexors, hamstrings, shoulders and neck), Reformer Peak Control (an innovative training concept from New York to gain maximum workout efficiency, body strength and body control with a minimum of weight by very controlled movements in increased difficulty for the performance level Intermediate).

A recommendation for all beginners: before you start group-training you should get used to the special forms of exercise by taking a one-on-one lesson - Reformer Pilates will offer you effective and relaxed training right from the start!

Prenatal Pilates

Pregnancy is demanding and stressful on a woman's body in many ways. This applies not only to the inevitable stretching of the abdominal muscles and the weakening of the connective tissue, but

primarily for back muscles and legs that are having to bear an increasing body-weight.

The specially combined exercises of Prenatal Pilates are very effective. The training also includes targeted strengthening and stabilization of the back muscles as well as mobilization of the spine

and strengthening the leg muscles. In addition, the stretching and increasing the flexibility of many of the stressed muscle groups are an effective contribution to childbirth preparation.

Postnatal Pilates

All mothers share this experience: even during pregnancy the chest and abdominal muscles are extraordinarily stressed, the muscle strands on the stomach are gradually pushed apart, while doing so a so-called diastasis (gap between the abdominal muscle strands). And then at birth the muscles in the abdominal and pelvic area are again particularly stressed. Already in the weeks and months after birth development and recovery training should be started.

Postnatal Pilates has a very targeted effect with specific exercises strengthening of the upper body, tightening of the abdominal muscles as well as those on the pelvic floor. The training load must of course be adapted to the individual state of health and fitness.

MOMAX PILATES® therefore has special courses for Postnatal Pilates in small groups with a maximum of 6 - 7 participants: ‘Matwork Pilates for Mom & Baby’ - while you complete your exercise programme, your baby is always there, busy and involved in the processes.
